Zaynab bint Khuzayma (the daughter of Khuzayma) was widowed when her husband was martyred in the Battle of Badr. Some say she was in her 20's but only Allah knows best. The Prophet (PBUH) married her shortly after his marriage to Hafsah bint Umar in the month of Ramadan in 4 AH.
Zaynab was well known for her exceptional generosity and kindness towards the poor and needy and became known as "Umm Al-Masakeen" (Mother of the Poor). Even at the time of Jahiliyyah (before Islam), she was always generous and giving.
Once a hungry poor man came to Zaynab's house asking for something to eat. Even though Zaynab had only a little bit of flour left in her home, she gave it to him for the Sake of Allah and spent that night without anything to eat.
Shortly after her marriage to the beloved Prophet (PBUH), Zaynab fell ill and passed away. Not much is known about her since she hadn't lived long with the Prophet (PBUH) however one thing she is very well known for to this day is her generosity. May Allah be pleased with our generous mother, Zaynab bint Khuzayma!
