Aisha was the daughter of Abu Bakr, the Prophet's best friend. She was a sincere, lively and faithful young lady well known for her intelligence. She reported many ahadith (sayings) from the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). Aisha spent her nights worshipping and praying to Allah (SWT) and her days fasting. She was known as Al-Sideeqa Bint Al-Sideeq (the truthful daughter of the truthful) because she was so honest and daughter of a very honest person as well.
Before her marriage to the Prophet (PBUH), he had a dream that Aisha would be his wife as Aisha narrates, "Allah's Apostle said (to me), "You were shown to me in a dream. An angel brought you to me, wrapped in a silken cloth and said to me, 'This is your wife.' I uncovered it; and behold, it was you. I said to myself, 'If this dream is from Allah, He will cause it to come true." (Al-Bukhari)
When the marriage took place, the Prophet (PBUH) was at the age of fifty-three and Aisha around the age of nine.
The Prophet's (PBUH) love and respect for Aisha increased even more when Allah proved Aisha's innocence by revealing Quranic verses in her honor after the Event of Al-Ifk where some hypocrites falsely accused Aisha.
Aisha was the only wife of the Prophet (PBUH) that hadn't been married before marriage to the Prophet (PBUH).
Our mother, Aisha wasn't only the Prophet's favorite wife. She was also the most beloved person to him. As Amr ibn Al-A'as narrated, "I asked him, 'Who is most beloved to you?' He said, 'Aisha'. I said. 'What about among the men?' He said, 'Her father.'
When the Prophet (PBUH) began to feel the effects of what became his last illness, he asked permission from the rest of his wives to stay with Aisha in her house. He passed away while he was resting in her lap and was buried in her house as well.
Aisha passed away many years later after the Prophet's death when she was at the age of 66 and was buried in Al-Baqi'.
There are so many lessons that we can learn from our beloved mother Aisha's motivating and God-fearing lifestyle! She is an excellent example of great character and led an influential life. She holds a special place in the hearts of millions to this day. May Allah be pleased with her!
